Related to recent ECA messages regarding COVID-19, on March 31 the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety released new COVID-19 safety guidance for construction sites—specifically, documented COVID-19 Exposure Control Plans. See link below.
Please know that other municipalities and counties are considering (or have already enacted) similar guidance and/or restrictions on construction that are more stringent than the Governors recent ‘Stay at Home’ Executive Order regarding exempted Essential Workforce, and it is likely only a matter of time before all of our contractor members are affected by this type of guidance. If you have not already done so, it would be prudent to proactively draft a COVID-19 Exposure Control Plan for your company with advice from your legal counsel and/or insurance provider.
Once again, the ECA urges all of our member contractors to raise the threshold of their safety standards and practices—taking into full account the critical emergency we are all facing as a community.
